A Beautiful Day at the Park!

It seems like alot of my posts have been about the weather lately. Today was a beautiful sunny day in Arkanas. We met some friends at a local park to enjoy the sunshine. Abbi was a great babysitter as always. She took Jackson and his friend Acelyn to the stream at the park to throw rocks and look for crawdads. The kids had a great time... they played on the swings, slides, and jungle gym... Here are a few pictures from our day at the park.

Sledding on a Snow Day!

I know I have had it said it before but we got record amounts of snow in Arkansas and have 8 snow days on record. We were feeling like caged animals, so we headed to the nearest hill for an afternoon of sledding.

Snowpocalypse

This has been a crazy winter for us in Arkansas. We have had 8 snow days and it's only February. Last week we got about 8 inches of snow on top of 2 inches of ice causing 4 snow days. We had a fairly nice weekend allowing some of the ice and snow to melt but early this morning all "heck" broke loose. It started snowing in the wee hours of the morning and didn't stop until about 3 this afternoon. We got about 20 inches of snow, needless to say our town is pretty much shut down. There is light at the end of the tunnel... the groundhog says we will have an early spring and it's supposed to be close to 60 degrees this weekend. Here are some pictures of our crazy weather. Stay warm!

This is my house and a picture that I took looking out the front door.

Snow Day

Today was our first "real" snow day. Schools were cancelled one day last week but we only got a dusting of snow. Today schools were closed and we got about 6 inches of snow. I asked for buckets of snow, and I guess technically we got buckets.. I just wanted more. I guess beggar's can't be choose-y.

We had a nice day, I worked from home and played outside with the kids. We had a BLAST! We couldn't build a snowman because the snow wouldn't pack but we were able to go sledding. The people that live across the street from us have a steep driveway that they never shovel, so the neightborhood kids take advantage and use it for sledding.

The snow has started to melt with the sun, not with the heating of the day. The temperature got colder today not warmer. The snow turned into slush that is now starting to turn into ice, so schools are cancelled again tomorrow. I hope we have as much fun tomorrow as we did today.

We took a few hours to come inside and warm up after sledding. Jackson brought some of his buddies inside to play. His "bestie" Caden Matthew and another kiddo, Cayden Aaron. The boys watched a movie, ate popcorn and fruit chews, played with trucks, and rode laps on the bike, cho-cho train, and lawn mower. I think they wore each other out, but all in all it was a great day!

I hope you are blessed with a "snow day" or two. :-)

Play Dates....

Jackson loves Caden our neighbor. He calls him, "his Caden Mathew". We try to get them together as often as we can. The boys have a blast playing together and never want the play date to end. Caden's parents and Brandon and I take turns watching the kiddos so we can have "Date Night" or just a few minutes of sanity. Here are some pictures of the boys playing....

Caden and Jackson watching a movie.

The Boys decided that it would be a great idea to ride together on the bike... They made laps from the kitchen, to the living room, to the playroom, and back to the kitchen. They giggled for hours.

Ice Skating in Lawrence Plaza

Today Abbi, Jackson, and I went ice skating with my parents at the new ice skating rink in Bentonville. Jackson, Sam (my canine brother), and I watched Gammie, Gampa, and Abbi skate. They all did pretty good.. Mom managed to stay on her feet the entire time but Dad and Abbi rolled on the ice.... only one time each though... to bad I wasn't ready with the camera.
Gammie, Abbi, and Gampa took a second to smile for the camera.

Happy New Year 2011

Happy New Year Everyone! May your year be happy, healthy, and prosperous!
We spent New Year's Eve with one of my Besties and her kids. It was very low key but a great time. We played games, watched TV, we ate and ate and ate... We all had a great time. Abbi, Jackson, and Spencer (Bestie's Son) had several Nerf wars and ate lots of goodies.

Only on New Year's Eve do you let the kiddos eat cake right from the cake... They laughed, ate, showed their food and had a great time!
